Welcome to the Healthy Runner website
The Great South run (GSR) is an annual 10 mile running race, currently sponsored by medical organisation Bupa. Situated in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, the Great South Run has quickly become one of the most popular 10 mile footraces in Europe since launching in 1990. The very first Great South run was held in Southampton, but was later moved after the first race to the location where it is held today. In 2009, the race attracted a record number of competitors hosting 21,000 entrants from across the globe.
The current race records are held by Joseph Ebuya (Kenya) with a time of 45mins 15seconds for the men's event, whilst Sonia Sullivan (Ireland) holds the women's records with a time of 51min.
